Cal Escori is a rural tourism project which wishes to offer a range of possibilities related with this world and the Penedès and Camp de Tarragona surroundings. A part from accommodation and a pleasant stay at Cal Escori – village house in Masllorenç town, recently remodeled – where we will enjoy the atmosphere and characteristic elements that were distinguishing from the XIX century’s catalan society, we can also offer four rooms differentiated in their architecture, decoration and atmosphere where we propose the possibility to celebrate group banquets, symposiums, expositions, courses and social events.
We will be located at the Major street in Masllorenç, a small town at the crests of the Alt Camp, El Tarragonès and the Baix Penedès regions to which it belongs administratively. The town, is one of the few places in the region that hasn’t been affected by the real estate boom of the last few years, allowing to preserve the town’s structure and being a spot where peacefulness and quiet can be breathed altogether, you will find a nice climate far from the sea’s humidity and the dry heat of central lands. Its unique location between three regions allows outings to very diverse places through very short journeys. The recent opening of the new C-51 road, between Valls and El Vendrell, is the key to a very short and comfortable journey, being 10 minutes from Vendrell and 15 from Valls.
Cal Escori is a big village house at the heart of Masllorenç, specifically at the Major street, next to the village’s church. It is dated from the 1700’s. The building was remodeled and amplified several times as we have discovered while effecting the renovations and adaptations to modern days and to modern rules. At the end os the 1800’s, the house already belonger to the Magrinyà family, our ancestors, provable fact due to the numerous documents and photographs and paintings that have made it to our time almost intact. The building was modern at its time of origin, adapted to the commodities of the century and the local lifestyle as well as to those of a wealthy family, owner of many acres of land around the town.
Rooms
Using and renovating all the well kept objects found in the house, we have tried to create a comfortable atmosphere, modern but mixed with sensations of past times.
Cal Escori has 7 double bedrooms, bathroom included, equipped with TV, loft with 2 bedrooms, office, living room and sofa bed. The effort restoring antique furniture, and while linen sheets has been hard, but by all means, worth it. Each room offers a unique and exclusive atmosphere; space, orientation and decoration, all contribute to it. The bathrooms are completely new, with all the requirements of modern times yet maintaining a cozy space within each room’s style.
The rooms are named after known stones, in memory of the old Masllorenç’s quarry, where big blocks of stone were acquired from to build the famous Pedrera of Gaudí in Barcelona. Because of it we will find rooms named “granite”, “slate”, or “sandy”, among others. At the same floor as the three rooms, there is a big kitchen-dining room.
Multi-purpose rooms
The multi-purpose rooms, are an important part of Cal Escori’s project, and widen our offer range of activities arround the house. It has been an important challenge, to restore this big spaces, maintaining the structures and environements.
In the Attic room we can do symposiums and courses in a wonderful atmosphere and offer a proposal the may allow groups and companies, to combine the stay in the house, with the management of their professional needs. In the room, there is a capacity of 40 sitting people, is equiped with a projector and a screen, as well as wonderful views. Is not included in the price of the house.
The Arch room is the biggest. In it an atmosphere of older times is breathed arround the old stone oven, the ilumined wine barrels, the press, and several tools found at the house. In this room we can celebrate dinners and lunches for groups, where Cal Escori offers the possibility of providing the Catering service, both sitting and standing meals. The room is located at the main floor, and one can access from the main door or through the old garage’s door. It is equiped with WC and heating system, being specially fresh in summer. The canyon arched Cellar, is a very pleasant spot. Only the sand floors have been remodeled to enable its use without icomodities. At the basement, it is a spot that can hols any kind of event, from a meals among friends to a great banquet in a quiet and special atmosphere. A few tools and barrels from the original house will acompany you during your event. Room not included in the price of the house.
The most modern room is the one located under the terrace. A One-piced built-in room, it is the widest and most open to hold any kind of event, from a meal to a conference or simply a ball. Equiped for all year needs, from there we can access to the big terrace or to the garden to get some fresh air. Room not included in the price of the house.
